Interiors have been loosening up in 2026 we have seen that trend rules are softening and personality is back and we couldn’t be more relieved! We don’t know about you.

One of the most exciting “trends” we are seeing off the back of this movement? Pattern Remixing!

What is Pattern Remixing?

Quite simply it is the art of combining patterns that ‘technically’ shouldn’t work alongside each other.

Think florals and geometrics, stripes and statement abstracts or maybe heritage woven’s with something contemporary. But making them feel intentional, considered and chic.

The best bit?

You don’t need to start from scratch!
Pattern remixing isn’t nessarcally about buying more it’s about working with what you already have.

For example… Those old curtains you still LOVE but are feeling a little tired. That fabric you picked up years ago and have been holding on to because it’s just too beautiful to part with… These things aren’t past their best, they are full of potential.

At Aconite Interiors we regularly transform existing curtains, fabrics and sentimental pieces into something entirely new.

Curtains → Blinds / Cushions
Blinds → Adding details such as braiding and trims
Duvet covers → Blinds - yes you read that correctly!

This mix of old and new tells a story and will give your interiors a depth, that ‘off the rack’ simply won’t.

The secret to making this work?

Keeping things edited!

  • Mixing different pattern scales

  • Let one key design/pattern take focus

  • Avoid too many prints in one room - you will know when you have over done it.

  • Consider bold wallpaper ideas

  • Keep the colour palette simple!

The last point being the most important. This is where you make the trend feel intentional and considered - it not a trend just for maximalist design.
Think about tones, this way the overall look will feel calm and not chaotic.
